PQQ’s new potential?

 

PQQ is a quinone cofactor, considered a "new vitamin" and plays an important role in the growth, reproduction and development of mammals. In order to study the effect of PQQ on neuronal ATP, the researchers measured the ATP content levels in cortical cells incubated with different doses of PQQ (0.1, 0.5, 1, 5, 10, 50 μM) for 2 hours. Starting from a concentration of 0.5 μM, the levels of ATP in cortical cells The ATP content increased significantly.

Studies have found that PQQ has a slight effect on mitochondrial content. Metabolic changes and mitochondrial dysfunction occur early in many retinal diseases. Improving metabolism and mitochondrial function and increasing ATP content can effectively combat RGC damage.
