NMN may prevent heart failure

In 2023, researchers from Japan's Kyushu University and Kyoto University published a study in the international journal "Life Science Alliance" showing that NMN can prevent heart failure by improving lysosomal function.

Interactions between lysosomes and mitochondria have been suggested to be required for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Lysosomes contribute to intracellular energy production by producing amino acids, sugars, and lipids. Lysosomes are involved in mitochondrial fission, and mitochondria regulate lysosomal dynamics, where dysfunction in one function affects the other.

By testing the mRNA expression level of Tfeb, a transcription factor that regulates lysosomal biosynthesis, it was found that lysosomal function is impaired with the reduction of NAD+ biosynthesis in the body, while NMN improved lysosomal function and improved autologous The function of phagocytosis.
