NMN can reduce the death rate of nerve cells caused by cerebral hemorrhage

The study was published in the Saudi Journal of Biological Sciences in December of the same year. To mimic the symptoms of cerebral hemorrhage in mice, the researchers injected a solution of collagenase into the brain of the mice, which can " dissolves the blood vessel walls of" mice and causes bleeding. One hour later, the researchers injected normal saline or 400mg/kg (converted to about 1.8g in humans) NMN to the mice with cerebral hemorrhage, and the injection took 40 minutes. The results show that supplementing NMN can reduce the death rate of nerve cells caused by cerebral hemorrhage.

To test the effects of cerebral hemorrhage on neurological function, the researchers subjected mice to a beam-walking test. In the test, the mice need to climb over a 1.2m long and 1.5cm wide beam, and the researchers will score their performance. The results showed that mice with cerebral hemorrhage not supplemented with NMN could only crawl slowly on the beam, but could not completely climb over the beam, while mice supplemented with NMN could complete the crawling task of 1.2m. It can be considered that NMN supplementation is helpful for the recovery of nervous system function after cerebral hemorrhage.

In addition, the researchers also found that compared with mice with cerebral hemorrhage injected with saline, mice with cerebral hemorrhage long-term injection of NMN lost less weight, indicating that supplementing NMN can help the mice recover later.

This study found that a single supplementation of NMN can reduce the death rate of nerve cells caused by cerebral hemorrhage and promote the recovery of neurological function in mice with cerebral hemorrhage, while long-term supplementation of NMN can increase the speed of weight recovery in mice with cerebral hemorrhage.
