Chandrasekaran et al. established a diabetic rat model with STZ and obtained the same experimental results. Caton et al.

showed that NMN can also increase the concentration of extracellular nicotinamide phosphoryltransferase by inhibiting IL-1β in islet cells, improve inflammation-mediated islet cell dysfunction, and restore insulin secretion from beta cells.

The above studies have shown that NMN intervention therapy can regulate the glucose metabolism, lower blood sugar and improve diabetes status in experimental animals.
